Tibial Trays (Monoblcok - Hinged) design with hinges, is typically used in revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for patients with severe instability or bone loss. These hinged implants are designed to provide stability when the patients own ligaments and bone structure are insufficient to support a standard Total Knee Replacement.
Description
- Rotating hinge strain prosthesis.
- Metal / Metal rotation and flexion axis without polyethylene bearing to avoid PE particles liberation and to reduce functional gap.
- Axial rotation, limited at +/-7° around neutral position, during the first ones.
- Degrees of flexion in order to avoid patella misalignment and to reduce stress level on the axis.
- Constant condyles load on the tibial bearing, whatever the position of rotation is, allowing to absorb a big part of stresses.
- Absence of cam effect during rotation to prevent the axis pivot dislocation.
- All femoral components and tibial bases can be combined.
- However, the UHMWPE polyethylene tray, packaged in a vacuum, with its fixation screw, must be the same size as the femoral component.
- The tray is attached to the base by a clip and a screw.
